Plan Your Next Romantic Getaway at One of These Beautiful Camping Spots

For many outdoorsy couples (even for those who are not so outdoorsy!), camping can make for an incredibly romantic experience. Here is a look at five scenic campgrounds in the United States that offer romance, beautiful views and a fair measure of privacy. Bonus: They are all accessible by vehicle!

First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach, VA

Enjoy starry skies, romantic bicycle rides and gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean — all from the city of Virginia Beach. History buffs will love it even more as First Landing is where the English first arrived in 1607, hence the name. Accommodations include campsites with electricity hook-up and cabins, and you and your sweetheart are sure to enjoy the lagoons, forests, swamps and more.

Blue Spring State Park, Orange City, FL

Florida has a plethora of gorgeous camping spots, many of them on the coast. For a beach alternative that packs in just as much romance as you would find oceanside, check out Blue Spring State Park. Here, you can swim, snorkel, scuba dive, fish, hike and even see manatees (usually on cold days from the middle of November to March). The park’s name comes from a miles-long spring that offers crystal-clear views through the water. You’ll feel like you are somewhere exotic, but for maximum privacy, visit during the spring or fall versus the summer or winter.

Silver Falls State Park, Sublimity, OR

The West Coast also has an incredible array of romantic camping options. Silver Falls State Park, in particular, is the crown jewel of Oregon parks. The many waterfalls add to the rugged beauty of this park, setting the stage for romantic days and nights. If you opt for tent camping, you’ll have plenty of privacy thanks to the many trees.

Jalama Beach, Lompoc, CA

If views of the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful California coast are more your thing, check out Jalama Beach. This campsite offers whale watching, fishing, surfing and more. Getting a cellphone signal is unlikely here, making for a more romantic getaway from it all. You can stay in a tent, RV or cabin, and, if you’re bringing kids, there’s a playground, too.

Pictured Rocks, Munising, MI

If you’re not close to either coast, a Pictured Rocks camping spot on Lake Superior should pack in all the romance you need any time of the year. Enjoy the shoreline, forest, water, sand dunes, cliffs and much more with your one true love. The name Pictured Rocks comes from the dramatic and colorful cliffs, and there are even lighthouses and shipwrecks — all sure to enhance the romance.
