Sedona is an oasis amongst the Arizona desert. Yes, it has plenty of spas and resorts, but its true treasure can be found in Sedona’s breathtaking canyons and red rock formations. It is said that when the sun dips down below the horizon it introduces the best show in Sedona: the night sky.

Where to Explore:

Cathedral Rock:

This strenuous hike is different from most because it consists mainly of climbing rocks. We suggest hiking this spot in the late afternoon, so by the time you make it to the top you can watch the sunset! Bring along the Ultra Lite Chairs and be comfortable as you watch the sun dip behind the red rock formations.

Devil’s Bridge Trail:

This hike might take your breath away—literally! It is a steep hike up to the largest natural stone arch in Sedona. It is considered a moderate hike because it is two miles round-trip and is very steep on the way back with natural stones steps (with no hand rails). Despite this, Devil’s Bridge is a very popular hiking trail, so if you’re looking solitude and quiet, you won’t find it here.

Broken Arrow Trail:

This trail is somewhat short but is considered one of the best for off-roading in Arizona. Imagine bumping along the red rock scenery and then driving through the lush forest of Sedona. There are many pull out spots because the trail is very popular, but be on the lookout for hikers and mountain bikers. Many of the obstacles will be intimidating for newer divers, but there is plenty of clearance to skip them if need be. Sedona Star Gazing:

In Sedona, the night sky is an attraction all in itself. Sedona Stargazing offers an evening of stargazing and astronomy under the canopy of this brilliant starry sky. Astronomers will guide you through this 12-person intimate experience while you look through a state-of-the-art telescope at the night sky. If you are looking to do some stargazing on your own, we suggest breaking down your Tent Cot into a lounge chair and taking in the beauty of the night sky—gives new meaning to sleeping under the stars!

Where to Set Up Kamp:

Bootlegger Campground:

With only 10 campsites available, this is one of the most sought-after campgrounds in Sedona. Bootlegger Campground is scenic beauty at its very best with its clear-water swimming holes, tall trees and plenty of trout to catch. They do not accept reservations, so be sure to get there early and claim your spot!

Cave Spring Campground:

This campground is perfect for families and children. It is located along the creek, which is home to the famous “slide rock” swimming holes. There is something here for everyone—whether you want to swim, hike, fish or just relax listening to the songbirds, Cave Spring Campgrounds has got you and the family covered.

Chavez Crossing Group Camp:

The Chavez Crossing Group Campsite is one of Sedona’s more unique campgrounds. It is situated between golf courses and upscale homes, but features the forest and creek side ambiance of a campsite. Since the campground is located in the heart of Sedona, you could always spruce up and head to the city’s nightlife spots, shopping districts and eat at some fine dining restaurants before heading back to your Tent Cot.

Manzanita Campground:

This campground is about 6 miles north of Sedona and located near Slide Rock and features swimming, cliff jumping, hiking and trout fishing. Manzanita Campground is by far one of the most popular camping spots for families. It has 18 single camping sites and is also available for picnic use from 10 am to 1 pm. Reservations are recommended during peak season!

Pine Flat Camping:

If fishing is your thing, this campsite is the perfect spot to pull up your Kwik Set Chairs and cast a line on the banks of Oak Creek. Fishing isn’t the only thing to do here, though. Pine Flat Campground is also home to the West Fork Trail, which offers a beautiful hike. Oak Creek Canyon is one of the most popular campgrounds in Sedona, so a reservation is highly recommended.

Red Rock State Park:

Red Rock State Park is four hours away from Sedona, but we feel like it is worth mentioning. Every fall, Monarch butterflies undergo a strenuous, long-range migration to their winter sites in Mexico and California, but they happen to pass through and make a stop at Red Rock State Park. This is quite the site! There are programs where you are able to tag the wings of these beautiful critters and watch their migration throughout the year.
